Look on the Blue Ridge Relay website “Exchange Zones” for a list of all organizations, which are hosting the exchange zones. Please note, not all churches or organizations will have their doors open. Many have granted permission for use of their property (parking lot, yard, field, etc…), but will not have open facilities.
Regarding sleeping: The exchange zone in Plumtree (exchange 18), has a nice parking lot with a grassy perimeter, for sleeping bags. Exchange 24 (Buchanon Park) has a soccer field and baseball field, again for tent or sleeping bag sleeping. Exchange 30 (Pensacola) last year opened one of its churches for some great indoor sleeping. Also note that the Green Valley Fire Dept. sold subs, apples, and water at exchange 18. The Pensacola community (exchange 30) had a pancake breakfast in a church’s reception hall. Most of the other exchange zones have space for outdoor tents/sleeping bags.
I hope this helps. If you need additional information, please contact us.

We're still recruiting runners and sleeping options are a big question. Can we get a list of the churches to contact them ahead of time? Most, if not all, of our team are from our church so it would be a great connection. Thanks

Teams are welcome to spread out sleeping bags at any of the transition areas (exchanges 6, 12, 18, 24, and 32). Buchanon Park would be an especially good one and also the one at Pensacola did have churches last year that allowed runners to sleep there. Hope this helps!

This will be our team's second year in the race and last year we rented a cabin in Spruce Pine to use as a base camp to (try to) get some sleep between race segments. While this worked OK, it wasn't great and with the price of gas this year I hate to be doing any more driving than necessary. I was wondering what other teams did to try and catch a little sleep during the race and how effective it was. I heard a rumor about groups staying at some of the Churches along the way - is this a possibility? I welcome any information you're willing to share. Thanks.
