ZAP History and Mission
ZAP Endurance was founded in Blowing Rock, NC in 2001 by Zika Rea and her late husband Andy Palmer. ZAP was created out of a vision to support and develop American post collegiate long distance runners as well as educate the running community through summer retreats. ZAP educates runners of all ages and abilities in Blowing Rock each summer, using the proceeds of the retreats to help support ZAP's professional team. The ZAP Endurance Foundation provides athletes in the program with all the tools to train full time toward their Olympic dreams, providing the team with living stipends, travel, coaching, physiotherapy, equipment and training camps.
ZAP Funding
The majority of ZAP's funding comes through individual donations. As the team prepares for this upcoming Olympic year, the goal of the ZAP Endurance Foundation (a registered 501c3 organization) is to provide the team with all the resources and opportunities they need to be their best for the 2024 Olympic Trials.
