Ruck Rules

All BRR Rules are applicable for BRRuck.  Additional Rules are also applicable for BRRuck.

BRRuck Specific Rules

  1. Teams will be comprised of a maximum of 12.
  2. Teams will start Thursday, September 10, 2026, 6:00am - 12:00pm.
  3. Teams must Ruck in sequence from Start to Finish (i.e. Ruck 1 = Leg 1, Ruck 2 = Leg 2.....Ruck 12 = Leg 12, Ruck 1 = Leg 13, etc...)
  4. 30 pound pack will be the standard.
  5. Teams will Ruck in pairs.  One active Ruck and one companion Ruck.  For the recommended companion scenario, please see the chart below.  If a member of the team cannot continue (i.e. injury), as with BRRun, BRRuck teams must continue in sequence.  If a member of the team is unable to Ruck as a companion, then another member of team must fill-in.
  6. The companion MUST be a registered member of the team.
  7. The 30# pack will be carried by each member of the pair (the active Ruck and the companion Ruck will carry packs).
  8. The Ruck course will vary in sections from the run course.  These sections may include some Thursday night legs and exchange zones.
  9. The course will NOT be signed for the Ruck.  Therefore, Ruck teams will need to self-navigate using the course map resources on the BRR website.  The BRR lead vehicle when posting signs may pass the Ruck teams Leg 21 – Leg 27.
  10. Accurate seed times will be required.
  11. Start Times will be set by BRR race management.  Start times will be based on team seed and projected finish times in the range 10:00am – 1:00pm.  No Ruck team can finish before 10:00am.  There may be some flexibility to finish after 1:00pm (to be determined).
  12. The exchange zones will NOT be staffed…No Trace Left Behind.
  13. At exchange zones, Ruck teams will be required to complete a remote check-in (format to be determined).  100% of BRRun is an honor system and BRRuck will also be on the honor system.
  14. Ruck teams will be issued a permissible time window for each exchange zone.  If a team is at risk of getting ahead of schedule, that team will need to freeze their progress until they can comply with permitted exchange zone times.  If a team is at risk of falling behind schedule…a decision has yet to be determined.  Please note that each exchange zone will have a 3-4 hour window.
  15. BRR issued race bibs will be worn by the active Ruck and companion Ruck from Start to Finish.
  16. BRR issued van bib will be visible on the team van dashboard at all times from Start to Finish.
  17. All BRR rules will be applicable (and some new ones will apply to the Ruck).
  18. The BRR race management team is doing its best to consider all scenarios for the BRRuck.  However, the Ruck teams may be in a scenario where common sense is required to maintain a good-standing within the community.
  19. We are receiving permission to set porta-potties early to ensure restroom facilities are available at each exchange zone.  However, there may be a small number of Ruck-modified exchange zones that do not have porta-potties on site, but a variety of public restrooms will be readily available.
  20. Rules violations will result in DQ and team members will not be allowed to participate in future BRR.
